Hey, kids – get moving and have some fun! Are you taking 10,000 steps a day?

Can you dance, wiggle or run? Then you're on your way to getting lean and fit for life.

Ask a grownup to help you log on to GetLeanTulsa.com and keep track of your miles. Visit here every week and see how far you can go. And be sure to watch the Community Counter in the upper left corner of the home page add YOUR miles to Tulsa's total.

Join Mayor Bartlett and his wife, Victoria and Get Lean Tulsa!

October 26, 2010 – Get Lean Tulsa Kick-Off at Hawthorne Elementary!
Nearly 500 students clapped and cheered when Volt, the WNBA Tulsa Shock mascot appeared with the Mayor and Victoria Bartlett at the Get Lean Tulsa kickoff event.

The University of Tulsa's mascot, Captain Cane and attending cheerleader, plus a representative from the Tulsa 66'ers also joined in on the fun and helped lead the kids in a game of "Simon Says."

The Tulsa Parks Department provided the school's walking club with several pedometers to use with tracking their daily progress, and Hawthorne students received backpacks, courtesy of Subway and healthy snacks provided by the Tulsa Health Department.

Mayor Bartlett and Victoria Bartlett, who is the spokesperson for Get Lean Tulsa, encouraged the kids to eat healthy foods and do a fun exercise every day to stay healthy.
